MASTERTON.
The roll of the Masterton electorate now contains 4109 names.
Dr Butement has been elected president of the Masterton .Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club.
Miss Sophia Sellar, youngest daughter of the late Mr James Sellar, one of the. earliest settlers of Wellington, and who resided for some years at Petone, died last week at the age of 6G. The Wairarapa North County elections resulted in the return of the following gentleman : —Masterton riding, Messrs D. Guild, W. G. Welch and 0. E. Cockburn Hood ; Alfredton riding, Mr Eli Smith; Akitco riding, Mr F. A. Sheath; Castlepoint riding, Messrs J. S. Langdon and R. S. Maunsell. The skeleton of a man was found on Brancepeth station, near the Lower Taueru, the other day. The only man known to be missing .is one who disappeared about 20 years ago. Messrs C. A. Pownall and It. E. Hornblow have been nominated for the Mayoralty of Masterton. The election of the former is considered certain.
For the vacancy in the representation of the West AVard in the Borough Council, Messrs A. Stem pa, and W. Dougall have been nominated.
