FEATHERSTON.
On Friday night last we experienced the same heavy storm which was felt in Wellington. The rain, which came down in torrents, flooded the streets in a brief space of time. Previous to Friday night's storm we had about three weeks of one long blow, the wind having - great force at times. At one time it took the roof off the engine-shed at Cross' Creek. The annual school concert, which was hold on Thursday last, did not turn out as well as could have been expected. The takings only amounted to .£ls 18s, and the committee only netted <£l3 14s sd, which, with their year's capitation, will take them all their time to meet the various liabilities with. The district officers of the 1.0.0. F., M.U., P.CM. Bro. Avery and P.C.S. Bro. Kershaw paid their annual visit to the Loyal Unity Lodge on Saturday night, when there was a very good muster of the members. After the lodge business a "social" was held, when a capital programme was gone through. During the evening the visiting officers gave short addresses on the various points in favour of the Order. After the " social" two members were given the N.G. degree and two members the V.G-. degree. The wool season has fairly started, and over a hundred bales have gone away during the past fortnight.
