THE EXHIBITION TRACK.

OPENING SPORTS MEETING. The Industrial Exhibition sports track was opened on Saturday afternoon, when there were about 800 people present. The weather was fine, but there was a strong 1 north-west wind, militating' against fast times or good performances. The times recorded were very much slower than those of Demonstration Day. McCardell; clerk of the course, Mr T. Mayer ; lap-takers, Messrs Woods, Inglis and Haybittle ; marksmen, Messrs Ballinger, Reid and A. Young ; telegrap board, Messrs J. Owen and J. B. Dusinbury. The races were confined solely to cash amateurs, and the finishes were interesting. Hunt, who comes from Marton, rode splendidly in the five-mile race.
