KILBIRNIE WINS THE THIRD-CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP. The final heat for tho Third-class Championship was concluded on the Basin Reserve on Saturday, the Kilbirnio second winning by six wickets. The second innings of Karori closed for 23, of which W. Dasent (captain) made !), not out, and Spiers G. Chapman bowled 11 overs for 3 runs and four wickets, Greenfield taking five wickets for 19 and C. McCarthy 1 for one on behalf of Kilbirnio, who knocked oil' the required 17 runs for the loss of four wickets. Greenfield scored 7, Davis 3, and Chapman 1, not out. Lowe (three wickets for 1 run) bowled best for the losers. The winners allowed no extras in either innings, their fielding being very good. Messrs Stevens and Millward, of the Phconix Club, ably discharged tin; duties of umpires. Mr T. Emeny is to be congratulated on leading tho Kilbirnio second to victory two years ill succession, and tho Dixon Cup thus becomes tho club's property.
