MR CADMAN IN THE WAIKATO.
By Telegraph. — Press Association. Auckland, February 4. j Last evening tbe Hon Mr Cadman addressed a large meeting of his constituents in the | Oddfellows' Hall, Hamilton East. Mr W. Dey, Mayor of Hamilton, presided. Mr Cadman's speech was in the main similar to that delivered at Huntly lately. I Ho touched chiefly on agricultural subjects, I and then went on to refer to politics in | general. Ho contended that tho present j Government had in reality reduced tho public debt by the conversion of loans. If, however, • money was not borrowed somewhere, there I would soon be nothing left to carry on public i works with, and the necessity of borrowing i shortly must be looked in the face. Regard* ! ing the bonus of £50,000 for the first 10,000 ! tons of beet sugar produced in tho Colony, he expected that the bill would be again brought ! forward, when perhaps it would have a better j fate. If a beetroot scacme for the Waikato was going to be a big affair, and not a wild I cat scheme, he would require to have some definite information on the subject before ho | could go into the matter of railway , freight. ; Mr Cadman was accorded a unanimous vote I of thanks and confidence.
