OPEN-AIR SEA BATHS.

TO THE t'DI’VOR. Sir,—Some of the . City CHincil have missed the mark a little in proposing to give the city covered swimming baths on shore instead of the fresh open-air sea baths which we used to have before this much reclaimed, city was so large as it now is. The problem of providing central fresh water baths ought not to interfere with that of open sea baths both at Td Ara and Thorndon, which can be built at a low cC'sf, .and which are much more healthy and invigora.tiiig f&f the rising generation. Let us hope the Mayor Arret Council will be liberal-minded on this occasion’; if they think fresh water baths desirable, do not IjE; them therefore neglect to restore to . tne city what it never should have been deprived of, viz., convenient open salt water laths at both ends of the city.—l am, &c., f J. P. Maxwell.
