APPLICATION TO THE GOVERN-

MENT. Some time ago the Wellington Harbour Board addressed a communication to the Government to ascertain whether the Government and Imperial authorities would assist in the construction of a graving dock. The matter was discussed in Cabinet yesterday, and it was resolved to reply that the Government could not see its way to offer any pecuniary assistance, as there was no appropriation for any such purpose, and. to recommend the Harbour Board to apply direct to the Imperial authorities.
