Carbine and the NoveLette colt have arrived at Naples. They stood the voyage well. London, May 20. Owing to the heat at Colombo, Carbine suffered from spasm in the bladder. Mr Day tapped the horse, and had a very anxious time, as it was feared that Carbine would succumb ; but he recovered, and landed in perfect condition. Two racehorses, Perkin and Napper, collided at the Park, says a Gisborne telegram. Napper had a leg broken, and had to be shot. Perkin was injured across the loins, and it is doubtful whether he will race again. Ready, the rider of Napper, is seriously injured internally. Suff, rider of Perkin, is also much shaken. Karamea (by Tim Whiffler —Kate Coventry), who ran third in the Hurdle Race at Foxton, was sold after the race to Mr R. Stevens, of Palmerston North, for ,£lB 10s. Austral and Roscius have been scratched for the Wanganui Steeplechase. Secretaries of racing clubs are reminded that illustrated card* and programmes can be printed at the New Zealand Times Office at two hours’ notice.
