A MAN KILLED.

FATAL FALL FROM A CART. An accident occurred on the Karori road at 2.30_ on Saturday (May 4), which resulted m the death of a young' married man named William James, who resided in Sydney street, and who was employed as a carter by Messrs Booth and Co., timber merchants, Waterloo quay. Deceased was driving two horses attached to a dray laden with manure for Mr Dryden, of Karori, and was accompanied by iwo boys named Archibald Mason and Charles Boyd. He was sitting with his feet en the shafts, and when about three cnains on the other side of Baker’s Fill he put ms hand in his trousers pocket, lost ills baiance, and fell under one of the wheels ox the cart. The wheel caught him by the right shoulder and skidded him along the roaa for a distance of about 9ft. and the cart had to be backed before he could be extricated. Mason stopped the horses, and with Boyd s help assisted the injured man to rise.
