BANKRUPTCY.
A meeting of creditors in the estate or D. G. Whitaker, confectioner, was held in the Official Assignee’s office on Friday, Mr J. Ashcroft presiding. There were four creditors present. At the request of creditors in Dunedin the meeting was adjourned until Wednesday. It was decided to offer the stock and plant for sale by auction, the Official Assignee to hold the money pending the settlement of a claim by Whitaker and Co. Samuel Cook, licensed interpreter, Otalci, has been adjudged a bankrupt. A first meeting of creditor's is to be held at Otaki on the 18th inst. Samuel Cook, licensed interpreter, Otaki, who was adjudged bankrupt on Friday last upon his own petition, furnished the Official Assignee on Monday with a statement of his assets and liabilities. His debts (all unsecured) amount to <£l33 13s 4-d, divided among 17 creditors, the largest claims being the following Wellington Loan Company, £3l 2s 4d; King, storekeeper, Otaki, £2O; Jones, butcher, Waikanae, £l3; Walkley, storekeeper, Otaki, £ll 10s; H. Bright, butcher, Otaki, £ll. There are no available assets. Masterton, January 11. N. A. Pinhey, farmer, has filed a declaration in insolvency.
