CARTERTON

Mr A. Armstrong was thrown from a horse the other day, his head coming in contact with a fence. He was stunned for a time and when picked up his face was very much bruised and cut about. He had got on to a strange horse to go in search of his own, which had escaped from its paddock. The brute he rode got the bit between its teeth and bolted. Mr Armstrong tugged at the bridle, but the horse made a sudden swerve round a side street and threw the rider with the result above stated. I am very sorry to have to report the death at Coolgardie of Mr William Haigh, son of Mr Sam Heigh, a woll•known Greytown resident. Young Haigh went over to the gold-fields about four months since, with two other mates from Greytown, but he took the fever and speedily succumbed.
