In conversation with a New Zealand Mail reporter on Tuesday, Mr Wayte said that satisfactory progress appeared to have been made in the dairy industry throughout the South Island during the present season. A considerable number of new cheese and butter factories and creameries have started, and though perhaps the outlook is not quite so promising as for the last season, he thinks that if cheese and butter of fine quality are sent Home the producers may expect to receive remunerative prices.
