FEATHERSTON.
Featherston, December 28. Last evening a most enjoyable concert ' took place. The audience, though a very sparse, was a very enthusiastic one. Mrs H. J. Miller and Messrs Dodd and Hill, vocalists, and Mr J. Kearsley, pianist, of Wellington, were thoroughly appreciated, as well as our two favourite lo6al singers, Misses Orr and Sheen. The following was the programme, which was very ably gone through:—-Overture, Featherston string band; song, “ The Yeoman’s Wedding Song,” Mr A. E. Dodd, and as an encore, ‘'Adieu, Marie”; song, “The Prima Donna,” Mrs Miller, and as an encore “Within a Milo of Edinbro’ Town ”; song, “The Star of Bethlehem,” Mr E. J. Hill, and as an encore “ The Romany Lass ”; song, “ The Sailor's Knot,” Miss Orr, encored and repeated; duet, “ Maying,” Mrs Miller and Mr Hill; song, Braga’s “ Serenade,” Miss Sheen, With obligata by Mr Candy, encored and repeated j’ song, “Comrades,” Mr H. Thomas, and as an encore “The Miner’s Dream.” The second part of the -programme consisted of “ Sweet Dreams,” overture, by Featherston string band; song, “Home, Boys, Home,” Mr A. E. Dodd; song, “At My Window,” Miss Sheen; song, “The Holy City,” Mr Hill; song, “ Sing, Sweet Bird,” Mrs Miller, and as an encore “ Killarney ” ; song, “Loch Lomond,” Miss Orr; song, “That Was Me,” Mr H. Thomas. The new scenery lately painted by Mr Neville -Thornton was exhibited for the first time, aild was very favourably commented on. Mr Hatch, the inventor of Hatch’s dip, met with a nasty accident yesterday when coming from Martinborough. It deems that he was being driven by a young man named Thomas, and somehow a capsize occurred, with the result that Mr Hatch received a fractured leg,, which necessi- . tated his being': taken to the Grey town Hospital., - "\
