Mr Justice Williams gave his sanction .to the West Australian Land Company's scheme if the debenture r holders withhold aotibn and agree to receive further debentures for ten per cent, of their present holdings. The trial of Lady Mabel Siever for retailing the Ailesbirry heirlooms was commenced, but has been adjourned-till next sittings her to explain her behaviour.
The Daily Telegraph states that the Scottish relatives of the late Mr R. L. Stevenson have received no intimation of his death, and are disinclined to believe the report. Dr Balfour, of Edinburgh, maintains that it is Mrs Stevenson who is dead, and •Will not believe that it is the author himself.
