THE NEW BISHOP.
ARRANGEMENTS FOR HIS CONSECRATION.
A meeting of the Standing Committee of the Wellington Diocese was held yesterday (Dec. 21.) Present —Archdeacon Fancourt (chairman), Revs J. Jones, T. H. Sprott and R. Coffey, Messrs W. H. Quick, C. E. Zohrab and C. P. Powles. The Chairman stated that the consecration of Dr Wallis, Bishop-elect, would place at 11 o'clock on January 25th, and on that day at evening service His Lordship will be installed. On the following Sunday there will be a cathedral service in the afternoon, at which the Bishop of Salisbury is asked to preach. He will also preach at the consecration service. In consequence of the limited accommodation in St. Paul's Church, the admission to the two services on January 25th will be by ticket. Tickets will" be given to the incumbents of parishes for distribution among their people. The Standing Committee appointed a sub-committee to take in hand the matter of hospitality to clergy and others visiting Wellington on the occasion of the consecration.
It is intended on the evening of Saturday, January 26th, to. have a gathering of church members in the Drillshed to welcome the new Bishop.
