An application was made for an alteration of the Harbours, Municipal Corporations, and Counties Acts, so as to enable local bodies to let public works on the cooperative principle. The Premier said he was in favour'd that proposal. ... ... ' Ah alteration; of the Education Act, to allow all women possessing the parliamentary franchise to vote at elections of school committees, was then asked for. The Premier replied that he was agreeable to this, but if they began tinkering with the Education Act, a flood of amendments might be brought in. That was the danger in disturbing the Act. A vote of thanks was given to the Premier, and a vote of confidence passed in the present Government.
