We understand that applications for loans under the Government Advances to Settlers Act are already coming to hand very freely. Another test shipment of 40 live cattle has been sent Home from Sydney via Suez this week. The Survey Department are preparing plans for ths following lands, which are to be brought into the market shortly:—To be sold for cash on 23rd January, 45 sections, one rood each, in the township of McKenzie, Cheviot, and 9 suburban sections one acre each ; four' sections in the township of McKenzie, containing 314* acres in all, to be leased for 12 months for grazing purposes; five sections in Spotswood Village, contaiaing 175 acres in all, to be leased for three years; eight sections in Mina Village, containing 343 acres in all, to be leased for three years; four sections in Domett Village, containing 210 acres in all, to be leased for three years. All these lands are on the Cheviot Estate. On the 30th January 2756 acres in the Avon Survey District, Marlborough, and on the Bankhouse Run, aie to be sold in two lots. On the 13th February the following pastoral leases in Mackenzie County, Canterbury, are to be offered for seven years : Run 206, Strachey district, 2790 acres; Run 215, Pukaki West, 266 acres; Run 216, Strachey and Pukaki, 734 acres ; Run 217, Pukaki, 507* acres ; Run 218, Pukaki West, 271 acres; Run 182, Pukaki, 156 acres; Run 183, Pukaki West and Strachey, 180 acres. On the same date several Otago runs are to be leased, viz., one of 4519 acres in the Nenthorne district and fronting the Taieri River, and three runs in the Waitaki district with a total area of 29,637 acres. -
