LICENSING COMMITTEES.

At the quarterly meeting of the Wellington Suburbs Licensing Committee on Wednesday, there were present:—Messrs Cathie (in the chair), R. C. Bulkley, J. T. King, S. V. Burridge, J. Holmes and Miss Cowles. The following transfers were granted unconditionally : —Club Hotel, Kaiwarra, from Susan Manson to Mary Campbell; Railway Hotel, Johnsonville, from D. Galloway to John Theobald; Rainbow Hotel, Kaiwarra, from John McIntosh to George Waddington; Central Hotel, Petone, from Thomas H. Wigley to Sydney J. Cole. An application from the executors of the late W. H. Saunders for the transfer of the license of Saunders’ . Hotel, Johnsonville, to J. Bould was granted on condition that certain improvements are made. Mr Wilford appeared in support of all the applications but one. The quarterly meeting of the Wellington Licensing Committee is to be held at noon to-morrow. Thq only business to come before the Cominittee is an applica-tion-for the transfer of the license of the Victoria Hotel from Robert Buckeridge to Frederick Dwyer. The Palmerston North Licensing Com- j mittee have refused to grant any extension of time till 11 o’clock. By Telegraph. —Press Association. Danevirke, December 5. The Waipawa Licensing Committee met to-day. The police reported that Cutler’s Hotel, Ormondville, required enlargement, and a committee was appointed to consider the matter. A previous resolution preventing the issue of conditional licenses was rescinded, Mr Gottard, solicitor for the Woodville Jockey Club, pointing out that the Act empowers any two members to grant such licenses, and that the resolution was ultra vires. The application for the transfer of the license of the Beaconsfield Hotel, Makotuku, from Mrs Ward to Mr A. R. Sugden, was granted.
