MONUMENT TO MR BALLANCE.

By Our Special Correspondent. London, September 20.

Mrs Ballance intends to erect a monument in New Zealand to the memory of her late husband, and it will be shipped dLiring the ensuing month, by one of the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamers. The monument, which has been prepared by Mr Edward Lauder, of Kensal G-reen, London, W., is of Irish grey granite, plain and substantial, but at the same time of very handsome design. The stone is in several pieces, and will weigh about five tons. The New Zealand Shipping Company have offered to convey the monument to any port in the Colony free of any charge whatsoever, providing the company is not held responsible for any damage done in transit. Mrs Ballance has, through Mr Owen Jones, accepted this very kindly offer. The monument will, of course, be erected in Wellington.
