AQUATICS.

Atthe annualmeeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association the accounts showed a debit balance owing to the expense of the banner (<£l4 6s 9d), and to the sale of Annuals not covering the cost. The election of officers resulted as follows; —President, Sir Lobert Stout; secretary and treasurer, Mr E. St. Clair; auditors, Messrs Esam and O’Meara. Appeal committees North : Messrs O’Meara and Goldwater; South: Messrs Airey, Mountfort, Austin and Smith. The secretary was authorised to ask the Government to give pound for pound for moneys locally raised for school .instruction in swimming, also to provide for bathing reserves at all the new Government townships. In the cutter race between crews from H.M.S. Eapid and the Auckland Navals, the latter won. At a large meeting at Nelson it was decided to hold the Nelson E-egatta on New Year’s Day. A strong Committee has been formed to carry out the arrangements.
