Y.A.T.C. MEETING. Melbourne, August 10, Battalion has been scratched for the Melbourne Cup.
Melbourne, August 11. Fine weather was enjoyed for the Y.A.T.C. meeting, and there was a good attendance. The following are the results of the principal events : Grand National Hurdles. Favour ... ... ... ... 1 Billy Boy ... 2 Cadet ... ... ... ... 3 Fourteen horses started. Won easily. Time, 4min 221 sec. Grand National Steeplechase. Dondi ... ... (Williams') 1 Cerberus ... (Dean) 2 Helios (Cox) 3 Eleven horses started. Betting—s to 1 agst Dondi, 6to 1 Helios, 7 to 1 Cerberus. Dondi made all the running, and won easily. Time, Bmin 33sec. Waiter fell, and his jockey, Corrigan, the well-known cross country rider, was so severely injured that no hopes are held out for his recovery.
Melbourne, August 13. Corrigan, who was seriously injured through Waiter falling in the Caulfield Steeplechase, died to-day.
Sydney, August 9. Buccleugh has been scratched for the Metropolitan Stakes.
Sydney, August 10. Little Bernie and Chatham have been scratched for the Metropolitan Stakes.
