THE NATIONAL BANK ROBBERY.
A TELLER CONFESSES THE THEFT. Christchurch, June 22. A few days ago it was reported to the police that a sum of i? 500 had been stolen from the National Bank. This afternoon I Hugh H. Rich, a teller in the Bank, gave himself up at the police station, and conI fessed to having stolen the money. Be will be brought before the Police Court to-morrow. Christchurch, June 23. In the Magistrate's Court to-day Rich, who gave himself up to the police on the previous day, and confessed to having stolen .£SOO from the National Bank, was remanded till the 25th inst. Inspector Broham stated that though accused had confessed he had not so far made restitution, or given any information about the disposal of the money. Christchurch, June 25. Hugh Robert Rich, charged with having stolen o£soo, the property of the National Bank, was again before the Police Court this morning. After evidence had been given as to his confession of the robbery, he reserved his defence and was committed for trial. Bail was fixed at his own recognisance of .£SOO, and two securities of ,£250 each.
