MISSING FRIENDS.
With a view to further increasing the utility of tho New Zealand Mail, the Editor has decided to introduce a new feature in tho shape of a Missing Friends' column, in which will be published the nzra.f& of persons for whom their friends are nqtiiring in the Home weeklies. Enquiries from persons in New Zealand and in the Australian Colonies for information af missing friends will be inserted in this column at the rate of Is for each insertion. Replies will be forwarded to the Editors, of Lloyd's and other papers if desired. All correspondence for this column should "be addressed New Zealand Mail, Wellington, with the words 'Missing Friends' in th% left hand top corner. Fkom Lloyd's Weekly London Newspaper, December 24, 1893. GELLETT (ALFRED and ELIZABETH) are sought by their sister Caroline. Alfred, in July, 1850, was with the 57th regiment in New Zealand; Elizabeth, at Brownhill, P. 0., Ballarat, in July, 1858. HAWKES (Mrs JAMES), nee ELLFN WELSH, formerly employed at Whiteley's, Westbourne grove; last wrote home in 1387 from Eltham, Taranaki, New Zealand. Sister Maggie asks. HENLY (JOHN), tailor, went to New Zealand some 20 years ago, and corresponded regularly until two years back. He was then living near Dunedin, Otago, N.Z. His mother seeks him. WALSH or WASH (Mrs KATE), nee BRADFORD, last wrote to her sister, Mrs Knight, when her husband had a cattle farm 100 miles above Auckland, New Zealand. From Lloyd's Weekly London Newspaper, January 31. HARDING (BENJAMIN VALENTINE), of Brighton, left London for New Zealand in October, 1573 ; last heard of at the railway works, Napier. Frederick Payne asks SHANb (WILLIAM) last wrote home from Timaru, New Zealand, in 1887. Sister Wilhelmina inquires. SOLMAN (HENRY) sailed from Plymouth on May 17th, 1874, and landed at Nelson, New Zealand; last letter from Auckland in 18S7. Mother is anxious. From Lloyd's Weekly London Newspaper, March 4th. HAYWARD (ISAAC) left Kingselcre, Hants, about 25 years since for New Zealand. His brother George last heard three years ago. MACMILLAN (MARGARY), formerly of Finny, parish of Beunachar, County Derry, seeks her son, Thomas Macmillan, who went to New Zealand 20 years ago. SPENCER (J. H.) went to New Zealand in 18o4; last heard of from Richmond Brook, Awatere, Marlborough, New Zealand. Sister Sarah is anxious for news. WALL (EMMA), nee BARNES, left England with her husband, Frank, in 1874 tc go to New Zealand; last letter from Linden, Dunedin, N.Z., August, 1881. Mother and sister long for tidings. H. R. ADAMS, native of Uplyme, Devon, was last heard of from Featherstone, New Zealand, in September, 1592. He had a brother, George, a member of tho Hansard staff, who was killed in an accident at Wellington, N.Z., in 1887. His aged mother and sisters inquire. Mrs H? ODLIN, was last known to bo living at Holmwood cottage, Te Aro, Wellington, New Zealand. (Sister Elizabeth is dead.) Her husband inquires. HERBERT PLUMB, wrote from Melbourne in 1889 that ho was a sailor on the steamship Defiance, about to sail from Melbourne to Auckland. His brothers seek him. (Mother dead.) JAMES and THOMAS TURNER, are ennquired for by their anxious mother. James went to Townsviilo, Australia, six years ago, and when last heard from, 18 months since was working for Mr Tyler, at Thyra station, Cape River, Q.N.R., Townsville; Thomas last wrote home two years back, when his address was: — Moeraki, HiUgrove, Oamaru, Otago, New Zealand.
