It was stated at the meeting of the Trustees of the Benevolent on Tuesday that a family of husband, wife and seven children were in such poor cir-r cumstances that they were unable to provide one of the boys with books fqr use at school, arid that-the unfortunate child had been thrashed in consequence. The Trustees did not see their way clear to giving the boy books, but decided to supply tho family with food and some necessary articles of clothing.
