The concert at Thomas' Hall on Friday in aid of the Juvenile Druids' Lodge library fund was a great success from a musical point of view, although the attendance was hardly so large as the programme deserved. However, a large number of tickets were sold the buyers of i which did not attend. An instrumentral trio by Miss Dugdale and Messrs Spackman and Edger was followed by the song, " A Little Hero," given by Mr A. E. Dodd. Mrs H. J. Miller was encored for "The Moorish Maid." Miss Dugdale played a pianoforte solo and Mr Clothier sang " Alice, where art Thou ?" while Gounod's " Serenade " -was sung by Mrs Mueller. Messrs Hoffmann, Pownall, Kirker, Hume and Willeston gave a very clever and humorous sketch from the able pen of Mr H. B. Bridge (the music by Mr Jones), entitled "The Tale of the Fox-y Army." This abounded in local allusions and was very laughable. An encore was insisted upon: Mr T. W. McKenzie gave a brief address iu praise of the objects of friendly societies. The same singers with Miss Holloway and Mr W. J- Haybittlc contributed the second part of the concert, Mrs Miller and Mr Dodd being encored.
