GREAT FIRE IN MELBOURNE.
By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. SERVICE & CO.’S PREMISES PARTIALLY DESTROYED. (PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Melbourne. May 31. A fire broke out on the premises of James Service and Co., general merchants, of Collins street. The top floor was gutted, and the rest of the building was damaged principally by water. The total damage is estimated at L 55,000. The firm is insured for L 56,000, including the National and Phcenix offices L3OOO each, New Zealand L2OOO, and South British LISOO.
