The two Governors drove in company to Government House. THE COMMERCIAL UNION OF THE EMPIRE. London, May 23. The committee of the London branch of the Imperial Federation League has been instructed to submit a scheme for the commercial union of the Empire based as nearly as possible on freetrade principles. NEW ANGLO-COLONIAL COMPANY. London, May 23. The Kiore (New Zealand) Sheep Company is being formed, with a capital of L 20,000. SHIPPING AND COMMERCIAL. London, May 23. The catalogue for the next series of wool sales contains 135,000 bales of New Zealand wool. Prospects are doubtful, except for combing aud merino sorts. Mr Licht, the sugar expert, estimates that the eight months production will show a decrease of 168,000 tons, and expects there will be a decrease on the whole campaign of 195,000 tons. The list for the next series of wool sales has closed. The total arrivals to date number 425,000 bales, of which 58,000 have been forwarded on to the manufacturers, leaving 367,000 available for the sale. The s.s. Duke of Westminster left Loudon for Auckland on Thursday.
