THE LIBERAL GOVERNMENT.

Sir,—After attempting to wade through the farrago of misrepresentations and nousense uttered by Mr Duthie it is refreshing to read the practical letters of Charles S. Gatton, of Palmerston North, tesifying to the immense benefit derived, and likely further to be derived from tho wise policy of oar Liberal Government. What be states agrees in every particular with account l ; received from intelligent peraons who visit , the country districts, and bears out the truth of the statements of Ministers who have addressed constituencies North and South. The multiplication of such letters would bo a godsend to the majorl'y of the people, and would enlighten any strangers as to the reliance to be placed in the long winded nonsense which appears almost daily iu the Tory Evening Post and other journals, tho editors of which are making frantic and foolish efforts to uphold monopoly,—l am, &c , A Settler.
