AN ADVENTURE IN THE BUSH.
(press association. ) New Plymouth, January 9
A picnic partv of Catholic boys went on Thursday with Father McKenna and three Marist Brothers to the ranges at the foot of Mount Egmont. In lambling about the bush one of the Marist Brothers and two little boys got separated from he party and were lost. After waiting till dark the party came into town without them. _ A search party was out all yesterday. Last night the Marist Brother who was lost rode into town from Koru. He states that when getting dark he made a bed for the boys, who slept soundly, and in the morning they picked up the river and tramped along its banks till they came out at the settlement at Koru abisut 4 o clock in the afternoon, after a tramp from daylight. Beyond fatigue, the little boys were none the worse for the adventure. The Marist Brother left the hoys at a settler’s house, and rode into town last night to bring in the news. While helping tho search in the ranges on Friday for the Marist Brother and/the little boys who had got temporarily lost in the bush, Constable Scully got bailed up by a wild bull. Its attitude for some considerable time was extremely defiant. The bull pawed and bellowed as if ho were working himself up for the charge. However, after some time the bull resigned his watch and ieft. There were numbers of wild pigß about which made it dangerous for those lost in the bush during the night they were there.
