Sergeant Gillies, the local police officer, brought in a charge against three men for disorderly conduct, and refusing to leave a hotel on Christmas morning at 2 o’clock. The charge was lodged under clauses 152 and 153 of the Licensing Act, 1881, but was dismissed by the Justices (after consultation with the Resident Magistrate), on the ground that the alleged
