A CURIOUS CASE.

(press association.) Christchurch, December 11. Captain Preece, R.M., gave judgment in a curious case to-day. A boilermaker named Ross, sold a brooch set with stones, supposed to be diamonds, for £35, to Sigismund Cohen, pawnbroker, who swore that Ross gave a guarantee. Ross denied thiß, Cohen gave him a cheque, but.stopped payment when he discovered that the stones were not genuine. Ross sued Cohen for the amount, but the Magistrate gave judgment for the defendant. .
