THE NATIONAL UNION OF TORIES.

By Electric Telegraph—Copy rig ht> SPEECH BY THE ENGLISH PREMIER. (PRESS association.) London, November 24. The National Union of Conservatives is meeting in Birmingham, Lord Salisbury being among those present. It was decided that all Unionists should defend the Welsh Church and representation in the three Kingdoms on a population basis. The Marquis of Salisbury, addressing the National Union of Tories Association at Birmingham, said union or disunion was the real question for the future. They must increase the small holdings even at the cost of the public credit. He declared that revolutionary reforms in the House pf Lords would diminish the power of the House of Commons and destroy public confidence. Home Rule would lead to rebellion and necessitate the reconquest of Ireland.
