Athletics.

Further consideration was given at the meeting cf tho Public Works Committee on Monday to the applications of the Amateur Athletic Club for the use of the Basin Reserve on November 2lst and Apr ; l 16th. The Committee decided to recommend that the Club be allowed tho use of tho ground on November 21st, but they decided to postpone consideration of the applications with regard to the second date. The employes of the Co-operative ’Bus Company intend to carry out a programme of sports on Christmas Day, being about their only holiday in the y<nr. Subscriptions will be thankfully received towards tho pr’zis, notices in reference to which will bs seen on all of the ’busses. Fifty one entries have been received for the cross-country race promoted by tho Wellington Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club.
