The Volunteers.

The Wellington Guards’ fifth annua! concert and presentation of prizes took place iu St. John’s Schoolroom last week. There was a largo attendance. A programme of vocal and instrumental selections was successfully carried out, and during an interval the prizes won by the members of the corps during the past shooting season were presented by Mrs Newall. Tbe City Kifl3s paraded for inspection at the Drillshcd on Monday. There were present 58 of all racks naaer Captain Collins. In the absence of Major Newall, Captain Collins acted as inspecting officer. SergeantMajor Finn was also present, and put the men through position drill. The corps was also Gxeroised in arms drill by the noncommissioned officers.
