Aquatics.

The two first heats of the McLean Fours were rowed by the Star Boating Club crows last evening week in splendid water. Ihe first heat wa3 won by G. Elliot s crew, who beat K. Duuoan’s crew by about three lengths, after maintaining a lead all tho XV ay. The second heat, between the crews of W. Pownall and F. Pownall, was won after a splendid race by the former, who reached the post with about a quarter of a length to the good. The crews were as follows : —First heat— E. Rad ward (bow), G. H. Bethune (2), W. C. Sproule (3), G. Elliott (stroke), and E. Red ward (cox) ; E. Archibald (bow), N. Gurr (2), 0. Cooper (3), K. Duncan (stroke), and P. Warren (cox). Second heat—G. Knight (bow), P. Leslie (2), T. Cooper (3), W. Pownali (stroke), and Irivine (cox) j J. Drummond (bow), J. Ross (2), K. Hume (3), F. Pownall (stroke), and McGumness (cox). Another heat of the McKay Sculls (Wellington Rowing Club) was rowed last night, S. Waters defeating H. Rountree by one length, afttjra good race. Matters in connection with the Yaoht Racing Assocla'.ion are progressing apace. The Auckland Yacht Club has forwarded its views and suggestions ; those of the Southern Clubs may be expected this week, and the Committee of our iccal Yacht Club meets this evening to frame theirs. When all the suggestions from the Clubs are received the Provisional Committee will call the delegates together to irame the rules and appoint officers for the year ; also to name the port at which the first championship New Zea land Yacht Race shall bo held. Another heat of the “ McKay Sculls ” (W.R.C.) was rowed Wednesday, W. Brown, with 333ec, boating R. Barber, at scratch, by a couple of lengths, after a good race. Mr P. Burns acted as starter and Mr F. Bennett judged. Tho heat between the Star crews of W. Pownall and G. G Eliott for the "MoLean Fours ” came off Wednesday. The race was a good one, and resulted in a wiu by G. G. Eliott’s crew, who got to the post about a length aud a half ahead of their opponents.
