Fifteen members of the Newfoundland Assembly refused to attend the Upper House, while the Royal assent was being given to certain measures which had been passed, adopting this step as a protest against tlie coercion of the Imperial Government, when the Spesker and the Premier obeyed the summons these members shouted out Traitors2 Traitors ! St Johns, March 27. The Premier of Newfoundland, Speaker of the House of Assembly, the leader of the Opposition, and two others have been appointed delegates to proceed to England to protest against Imperial coercion. London, March 28. The Times in discussing the dispute with Newfoundland, while deprecating the attitude adopted bv that Colony warns both France and Great Britain not to dragoon colonists into unhesitating submission.

Oitawa, March 29. The Canadian Government request the Marquis of Salisbury to prohibit Newfoundland discrimination in favour of America respecting the sale of bait. St. John’s March 29. Captain Walker, of H.M.S. Emerald, will appeal to the Privy Council against the decision of the Court, by which he ■was mulcted in damages for closing Baird’s lobster factory. (SPECIAL Tt> PRESS ASSOCIATION.) London, March 25. Sir C. Dilke thinks it is a mistake to override the wishes of Newfoundland and that the action of the Imperial Government will lead to disruption.
