(By Electric Telegraph—Uofyb.ight. THE UNIVERSITY BOAT RACE. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) London, March 14. The Oxford crew rowed over the course in 19min 17sec, making a record, and the betting is now 5 to 2 on Oxford. London, Maroh 17. Betting on the boat race is 7 to 4 on Oxford.
The Catholic School children held a picnic at Newtown Park on Tuesday. The weather was fine, and the gathering was a very successful one. The children assembled at Hill street on Tuesday morning, and headed by a brass band, marched to the Park, where ample amusement was provided for the children by the committee which had arranged the gathering. The committee were as follow :—Messrs P. McComisty (Chairman), W. J. Grant (Secretary), J. Stratford, G. Bradley, E. Carrigan, E. Dealy, M. Bohan, D. Hayes, J. Cianoy, T. Costello, J. McLoughlin, D. McLoughlin, M. McLoughJin, P. Harris, P. McMahon, P. Hopkins, W. Mahoney, C. Sullivan, J. Coogan, W. Brady, J. O’Dea, Whittaker, and J. Kennedy. „ The festival of Ireland’s patron Saint was duly celebrated at St Patrick’s College on Tuesday. Solemn high mass was sung at St Joseph’s, Bnckle street, at 9 a.m., the Very Rev Dr Watters, Rector of the College, noting as oelebrant, Father Tnpman as deacon, Father Hickson as sub-deacon, and Father Goggan aa master of ceremonies. The music was rendered by the College choir, under Father Braxmeier, and orchestra under Mr Troweil, Father Carolan presiding at the organ. There was a large congregation, and the Rev Dr Watters delivered a suitable* address. After the service was over, the College band, under Bandmaster Clmino, gave a performance in the grounds in front of the institution. A grand display of fireworks was given at the College on Tuesday night, under the direction of the Rev Father Hickson,
