Athletics.
At a committee meeting of the Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club held on Friday it was decided to substitute a maiden bicycle race and throwing the cricket ball for the high jump and the pole jump, a 3 there were no competition for these events. It was also decided to make the Bafety bicycle handicap post entry. The following new members were elected: Messrs Alister Brown, E. Coleridge and Dr Adams. Great preparations are being made for the athletic exhibition announced to be given by the champion athlete Duncan C. Boss in the Drillshed on Saturday evening next. He will enter into several competitions with Charles MoHardy, champion heavy weight lifter, of Goulbnrn, who has come here especially to meet Boss. Mr Doyle, the well known local athlete, and Messrs O’Grady and Crawford, two Permanent Artillery men, both noted athletes, will also assist. Ross will also wreßtle anyone who cogues forward in any style, and will give displays of swordsmanship, lifting, and other feats of strength.
