(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Westport, Deoember 2. j The most closely built block of buildings in town narrowly escaped destruction n? fire at 2.30 this morning. A constable, in passing diseevered fire bursting through the upper portion of Scanlon’s Hotel, f originated in the attic, but how is a mystery. There was no wind at the time, and t fire being high was extinguished after so m hard work. . „ New Plymouth, December iA house occupied by four Salvation Army lasses, was burnt down at 5 this ™°* nl J“ B ' the oooupants escaping with only had on. There are no insurances, and ■ origin of the outbreak is unknown.
