THE BAPTIST UNION.

(per press association.) Auckland, November 11. The annual conference of the Baptist Union was opened to-day in the Auckland Tabernacle, when the usual presidential address was delivered by the retiring President, the Rev A. North, of Dunedin. The annual report stated that there was an increase in the membership of the Baptist Church in the Colony of 180 during the year, making the total for the Colony 2805. The number of local preachers is 64, and of preaching stations 18. Sunday Schools have 478 teachers and 4513 scholars. The exchequer of the Union is stated to be empty. The denomination is being urged not to let this interfere with the Church work of the ensuing year.
