DEATH OF OLD SETTLERS.

Feilding, September 26. Mr James Beattie, accountant for the Land Corporation, a resident here since tbe foundation of the settlement, died this morning after a long illness. Waipawa, September 26. Alexander McKay, of Tamumu, died yesterday from injuries received in falling from his hor#e. He was one of the oldest Hawkcs Bay settlers, having arrived in Napier in November, 1857.
