A KNOTTY POINT.

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Christchurch,' June 17. In the Supremo Court to day a special jury awarded a sailor Domed Andreas Nystrom £750 damages against Cameron Bros., stevedores, for reVioua injuries caused by six coils of wire falling on him from the sling 3 on board the ship.Brahmin at L3’tteiton. The accident rtsuited from the breaking of an eyebolt, to which a guy rope (part of the hoisting gear) was fastened by Cameron’s men. This holt appeared sound, but was rotten. The jury, considered that the stevedores showed negligence in fastening the guy to it. When the accident occurred Njstrom was working by the’orders of the mate close to the fore hatch, whence the csrgo was being raised. The jury found that the officers of the ship had shown contributory negligence by placing' s him there, anrl the question of whether the ship or the stevedore is responsible will be argued in Banco.
