'W (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Reefton, March 13. The long-wished for rain has set in at Boatman’s, and all the batteries have resumed crushing. From news received irom the Lyell, they have had a good fall of rain also ; and the Alpine will start crushing on Monday. It has rained slightly in town today, with every prospect of it holding out. The business in town at present is very dull, there being very few sales of scrip, and the prices of all the mines are falling slightly in consequence. The Golden Lead has fallen te 28 6d, with a few buyers. The Cumberland at present has no buyers at 2s. Merrijigs are quoted by sellers at from Is 9d to 2s. The O.K. are a little asked for at la lOd, but they are showing some good specimens in town, which I think will improve matters a little on their scrip. Other lines are very little asked for. Reefton, March 15. The share market has been very quiet daring the week, and but few transactions have taken place. At noon to-day the following were the ruling prices :—Argosy, Sd to 9d ; Big River, 2s 9d to 3s ; Cumberland, lOd to Is ; Golden Lead, 2s 6d to 2s 9d ; Globe, J9s 6d to 20s ; lnkerman, 21s 9d to 22s 3d ; Keep-it-Dark, 183 to 19a; Merrijigs, lOd to Is; 0.K.. Is 8d to 2s ; Progress, 26s to 27s ; Resolution, 7d to 8d ; Supreme, 3s to 3s 3d ; Scotia, 2s id to 2s Gd ; Drake, Is 6d to Is 9d ; Alpine, 28s to 28s 6d. A party at Barrys, who struck gold last week, obtained from their paddock, which is not a large one, Soz of gold. The metal is all found on the bottom, and- consists of pieces from loz downward. .There is no extent of ground, the site of the operations being on a point in the creek. Battery returns—Globe, 2530 z of amalgam from 190 tons (plates only) ; Keep-it-Dark, 171 oz of amalgam from 172 tons ; Fiery Cross, 141 oz of amalgam from 67 tons ; No. 2 South Dark, 91oz from 38 tons. (per press association). Auckland, March 16. A telegram from Whangarei states that the Puhipuhi Prospectors’ Company has been reformed, with a capital of £55,320 in £1 shares, to be divided amongst the present shareholders. A manager is to be appointed in Auckland. Considerable interest has been aroused in mining circles by the discovery of some rich specimens in the new Alburnia mine, land shares have advanced from 2s or 3s to 8s 3d, and no sellers at that figure. Westport, March 15. The total coal export from this port for the week ending to-day was 5475 tons. This is the largest week’s export up to the present time. Dunedin, March 15. The Dunedin Gold Dredging Company obtained 13Soz of gold for five days’ dredg. ing last week, making 3720 z for four weeks.
