The number of vessels entered inward at New Zealand ports during the quarter ending the 31st December, 1889, was 203 —l2B sailing and 75 steaming vessels. The numbers for the four principal port 3 were—Auckland, 63 ; Wellington, 33 ; Lyttelton, 23 ; Dunedin, 20. There were decreases shown at Auckland (8), Lyttelton (3), and Dunedin (10) as compared with the corresponding quarter of 1888, while Wellington showed an increase of 10. IMPORTS AND EXPORTS. The total value of the imports at the several ports o< the Colony for the quarter ending December 31, 1889, amounted to LJ,670.610, and for the corresponding quarter of 1888 L 1,493,957, showing an increase of L 176,653. The total value of the exports for the quarter ending December 31, 1889, amounted to L 2,409,606, and for the corresponding quarter of 1888 L 2,055,328, showing an increase of L 354,278.
