THE CEMETERY QUESTION.

1n t O OPPOSITION THE MELROSE BOROUGH COUNCIL. At a meeting of the Public Works Committee of the Melrose Borough Council Monday night, a letter was read from the Town Clerk stating that the City Council had decided to establish a cemetery at Island Bay on land proposed to be purchased from Messrs Joseph and Wright, subject to the approval of the suburban borough, and asking whether such approval would be given, jib connection with this question, two petitions were received by the Committee askag that the Council would not give its assent to the proposal to establish a cemetery at Island Bay. After fully considering the matter, the Committee decided to recommend the Council to offer no objection to the City Council’s proposal to purchase the land for cemetery purposes.
