PROPOSED FEDERATION CONFERENCE.

It has been suggested that the proposed Australasian Conference on the Federation question shall be held at Hobart during-Sir Harry

Atkinson’s sojourn in Tasmania, as it is desired by the Australasian Governments as well as by himself that he should, if possible, attend the Conference. If, however, it is decided that New Zealand shall be represented at the Conference — which is virtually almost certain—another Minister beside the Premier will be present. It is not yet decided who shall go, but the whole question will come up for settlement at a Cabinet meeting which is to be held early in January under the presidency of Mr Mitchelson.
