ACCIDENTS.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Christchurch,, December 19. This morning John Wilkinson, aged 68, postmaster at Wainui, an experienced boatman, and John Neligan, aged 40, formerly a lawyer’s clerk, left Akaroafor Wainui in a dingy, when a squall arose and they put back. They were advised not to venture out again, but started about noon when a squall upset the boat. Wilkiuson, a good swimmer, got on the bottom of tho boat, and was picked up, but was much exhausted. Feligan’a body was washed ashore near Wainui. Both men were unmarried. Auckland, December 20. A man named Henri Renard, a Frenchman, employed at Douglas Bros’, sawmill zb Helensvtlle, was found dead in the mill with his head split open. He had been engaged drawing logs, and it is supposed that he was struck on the head with a chain, which slipped. . Napier, December 20. A girl, eleven years old, named Emily Blackburn, got her left arm in a flax scutching machine at Mount Erin, Havelock, this afternoon. The machine tore off her arm at the elbow. Medical attendance was obtained, and the arm amputated at the elbow.
