CITY COUNCIL.

The Public Works Committee were to recommend at the meeting of the City Council last night : —That consent be given to the establishment of a right-of-way 40ft wide off the Ohiro-road, as applied for by Mr F. Simeon, subject to the usual conditions as to formation, etc. That, at the request of the owners of the right-of-way called “ Danks’-terrace,” off Tasman-street, the name of the same he changed to “ Hay ward’s street. That a 2in water-service, for fire purposes only, he granted to the Harbour Board for their new woolshed at Waterloo-quay on the usual conditions. That the following he the conditions for sale of the leases of reclaimed land on Te Aro foreshore :—First term, 21 years ; succeeding terms, 14 years ; rent for succeeding terms to be fixed by valuation in the usual way ; covenant for renewal to be at the option of lessee ; also, that the sale take place about the middle of December next, and the leases commence at Ist January, 1890. That the City Reserves Committee be requested to take into consideration the whole question of letting the Basin Reserve, with a view of laying down certain rules for same ; and to report to the Council thereon. That tenders be invited for the lease of sundry sections of Town Belt now unlet. That the amount passed at last meeting of the Council for settlement of Mrs Boyce’s foreshore claim be altered to Ll5O, this being the correct amount. That Mr John McLean he paid the sum of L2OO, in settlement of his foreshore claim, viz:— L 5 per foot on 40fc of land. That the claim of Mr Thomas Gross, cab-driver, for compensation for alleged injury to his horse by a fall in Tory-street, be not entertained.
