The Late Mr Robins3N. —The late Mr W. Robinson, M.L.C.,on his arrival in the colonies, first engaged in pastoral pursuits at Hill River, S nth Australia, and having Bold out there he came over to Now Zealand in 1857 and settled in Canterbury. It is not correct that he was in business in Ballarat. Gold-saving Machine. —Mr Carter exhibited, on Saturday, on the premises, in Willi3*Btreet, opposite the end of Lambtonquay, a machine invented by himself for gold-saving. The invention consists of three wooden tables kept in constant motion by an ingenious application of water power. For beach sand and ordinary wash-dirt this machine should give favourable results. Funeral. - On Saturday forenoon the remains of the late wife of Captain. S. C. Anderson were conveyed to their last resting-place at the Johsouvilla cemetery. Despite the bad weather prevailing a large number of the deceased’s friends followed the bier in mourning carriage's to show thei respect for fclio departed one and their sympathy with tho bereaved husband.
