WELLINGTON MEAT EXPORT COMPANY.

Tjie shareholders of tlie Wellington Meat Export Company are to be congratulated upon the very satisfactory position the

Company now occupies. The speech Of their Chairman, which appears in ■ another column, was full of interest, and speaks well for the future, not only of this Company in particular, but of the Colony generally. The export of frozen meat from New Zealand is as yet only in its infancy, and we believe the trade is destined to assume very large proportions. It is very pleasing to learn from our telegrams of this week that the French Government have made large contracts for a supply of New Zealand mutton. The decrease in the number of sheep in Great Britain, and the still increasing population, combined with the better appreciation of our meat, are so many points of vantage for our sheep raisers.
